About Course

Fostering and adopting are life-changing journeys — but too often the focus is entirely on the child, leaving the needs of the parent overlooked. The truth is, if parents are not supported, their ability to care is undermined.

This course, based on research for Fi Newood’s book I Can’t Do This: When Foster and Adoptive Parenting Feels Too Hard, creates a safe space to acknowledge the real challenges of fostering and adoption. You’ll explore the emotional toll, the impact on couples and single parents, and the risk of secondary trauma — and gain tools for resilience and self-care.
