About Course

Led by Dr Mica Douglas

Caring for a child who has experienced early trauma can feel confusing and overwhelming. Developmental trauma doesn’t just affect how a child behaves — it can shape the way they think, learn, relate to others, and see the world. For foster parents, understanding this is key to helping children begin to heal.

In this workshop, we’ll explore what developmental trauma is, how it impacts children and young people, and why its effects can last into adolescence and beyond. You’ll also come away with practical strategies you can use every day to support a child’s recovery and strengthen their ability to thrive.

By the end, you’ll feel more confident, informed, and equipped to respond with empathy and effectiveness in your parenting journey.
